Product Review Manufacture: Aggressive Nature
The Aggressive Nature Team was of the opinion that for some scenario events an effective means of delivering an artillery barrage using low velocities, short ranges, and high-arcing ballistic trajectories projectiles was needed for some scenario events. Our design is constructed from Schedule 40 PVC that has a pressure rating of 180psi. Too provide a safety margin we have limited the pressure of this weapon with a pressure safety valve that is set to 115psi.. The pressure chamber is 3 inch PVC with fiberglass reinforcement. The reinforcement is the result of a developmental accident I had that resulted in 14 stitches in meaty flesh area of the left thumb. Three year old glue was another factor in the failure. The mortar can be charged with CO2, HPA or from a scuba tank we adapters we have. To prevent potential disaster with the scuba tank (5000psi) we have had a local scuba shop make use a regulator that limits the tank output to 120psi.. The firing valve is a electric lawn sprinkler valve and is powered by a 12 volt gel cell battery (from a Computer Backup Power supply) and is contained in the ammo case (lower right). The battery connects to the mortar with a 6 foot cable and connector (white "thing" between pressure chamber and barrel). A firing switch plugs into the ammo box to fire the mortar. Vortex Nerf Rockets and F-69 PB in tip rockets are kept in the ammo box. Test firing of the mortar yielded effective
ranges of 300yds at 70psi charge, 60deg elevation.
