The Tippmann x7 was an experience.
Right out of the box it was different, good feel, simpler to
maintain, good looks.
Purchased it from
Paintball Ohio in Columbus OH. I
also purchased the
Air-Thru Commando Stock while I
was there.
On the first weekend of play the trouble started. Chopped paint
in the Cyclone really bad. When I got back home to clean the
mess I found that the cyclone would for the first 3 shots, skip
a shot and then advance 2 places, this resulted in a lot of soup
in the Cyclone. Searching the internet for other users with the
same problem I found that I was not alone. Seems that there were
a few "upgrades" from Tippmann for this marker already. Mine
seemed to have all the "upgrade" pieces but I still had the
problem. I contacted Tippmann and they asked that I send
it to them for repair. Within the week they returned the marker
to me and I was very pleased with the service. They replaced the
Cyclone assembly and all worked well.
The team was entered in the
BattleFront Paintball, D-Day the
2 day event and Deadeye used the x7 all day Saturday with no
trouble. On the second day at the 3/4 mark, the x7
malfunctioned and would not fire, so we but it away and went for
another marker. Upon returning home I found the
Feeder Ratched was stripped. I
contacted Tippmann and they sent 3 of them as well as an extra
Feeder Axel.
Tippmann has to one of the best companies when it comes to
Customer Support I have ever dealt with.
While waiting for the new parts to arrive I did a little more
web research on the problem and found it be a common problem
with the Cyclone system. I did find a
modification for the Feeder Axel
and figured WTF and gave it try I also clipped the spring inside
the
Feeder Ratched as the
TechT Vortex Mod instructs you to do
(the thing about clipping the spring). 3000 rounds later
it's still working great. If problems occur again. I will do the
full TechT mods as I did on the A5
I did purchase the Flatline Barrel for the x7 but was not happy
with it, performance was just not there so I am back to the
stock barrel.
